What Jason built is not a finance company. It is the practice he wished his brothers and sisters at the station had — when they were buying their first home, refinancing through a recession, or trying to figure out what to do with the VA benefit nobody had ever explained to them.

For more than a decade, Jason has answered calls in the middle of the night — sometimes from the engine, sometimes from his cell. Different uniforms, the same job: show up, stay calm, get the family through it.

He started Hero Mortgage Group after watching too many of his fellow first responders get steered into the wrong loan by big-box lenders who didn’t understand their pay structure, their pension, their schedule, or the way overtime actually shows up on a paycheck. The bigger his book of business got, the clearer the pattern became: working-class American families — teachers, nurses, cops, paramedics, military — were paying more for the same money because nobody was structuring their loan with the care a banker would give a private client.

Today Hero Mortgage Group is licensed in 12 states, has a wholesale relationship with more than 40 lenders, and runs every loan through a single discipline: if I wouldn’t put my own family in this loan, I won’t put yours in it. Jason still works the engine. He still answers his phone. And he still treats every file like it’s the most important one on the desk — because, somewhere, to somebody, it is.

2017 · The First File

Jason closes his first loan for a fellow firefighter — out of pocket, on a card table, after a 24-hour shift. The client tells him, “Nobody’s ever explained any of this to me before.” It is not a compliment to the industry.

2021 · Licensed Across Florida

The brokerage opens its first Boca Raton location. The team grows to four loan officers — every one of them a current or former first responder, military member, or family member of one.

2023 · Wholesale Partnerships Expand

Hero Mortgage Group secures direct wholesale relationships with more than 40 lenders, including portfolio shops most consumers will never see. Pricing becomes a structural advantage, not a sales line.

2025 · 12-State Footprint
